Autodesk 3D design has been submitted - Tue, Mar 1, 2011

We entered our submission to the Autodesk website last night (woo hoo)! Thanks to everyone involved who helped to design and/or create the parts of the final model. It's quite a process. Autodesk likes to see how the project proceeded from concept to final design, and the use of Inventor software to help with the design process and to solve problems. We explained to Autodesk how we as a team came up with several concepts and ideas for our robot right after kick off, and within the first two weeks and a plywood prototype, came up with what was to become our final design.

Week 6 is upon us!! - Mon, Feb 14, 2011

We are continuing to make slow and steady progress. This week's agenda: Finish installing and wiring the motors that drive the arm and claw. We have one installed and checked, and two others will be on real soon (operational by Tuesday or Wednesday we hope). We're finding we need to adjust or add to the brackets that connect the motors to the frame, to add to the stability of the motors while operating the arm and claw.

The mini-bot works awesome and we have a deployment design ready to go when the arm motors are fully installed.

Week 4..making progress! - Mon, Feb 7, 2011

Week 4 has come to a close, we're making steady progress. The bumpers have been completely done since last week, both sets, complete with mounting hardware and painted numbers. We've been test-driving the robot and making adjustments to the drive system. We have all the arm pieces fabricated and have been putting on the sprokets, chains and other hardware. We're machining motor/gearbox mounts and other hardware and should have the lower arm running early this week, and the whole arm and claw running by the end of the week.

Progress Report... End of week 3 - Mon, Jan 31, 2011

Just letting you know what's been going on in the BERT world...
We just finished Week number 3! We're half way there.

The Mini-Bot prototype is almost done, the plan is to test it out and make adjustments this week and have the finished Mini-Bot by the end of
the week.

The Host-Bot has the drive system on, and was being driven/tested this weekend, it was pretty awesome.
